The Committee welcomes you to the Australian Historic Telephone Society Website!
The AHTS is one of three societies operating in Australia today and welcomes anyone with an interest in communications. Our growing membership base of around one hundred members is spread across Australia and the World. The society is based in Melbourne where a majority of members reside. There is also a Branch of the society meeting in Perth. We share with the other groups via the Sound and Telecommunications Association of Australiasia (STAA) which comprises delegates from the various Australian states to provide “The Exchange” newsletter, a website and administrative services support to the groups. The AHTS in Victoria meets bi-monthly starting February of each year and the STAA bi-monthly newsletter is also distributed catering for the needs of communications enthusiasts. We engender interest by having discussions at meetings on history of telephony, repair and restoration techniques as well as displays/buy/sell/swap. Those with any interest in communications are welcome to join the society via the website application page and will find the quality of content in the newsletter alone a good reason to be a member.
